Indiana’s Home-Based Vendor Law Updated

On March 8 HB 1149, which updates Indiana’s home-based vendor regulations, was signed into law. Effective July 1st, IC 16-42-5.3 will allow home-based vendors to sell their products:

  • in-person, by telephone, or through the internet; and

  • delivered to the end consumer in-person, by mail, or by a third-party carrier

Home-based vendors will also be required to “obtain a food handler certificate from a certificate issuer that is accredited by the American National Standards Institute” (ANSI), such as the ServSafe Food Handler certificate.
